On Thursday 2nd May we are going to be having our Greek Day in Year 5. There are going to be lots of Greek related things going on and we would like to invite you to join us from 7.50 until 8.30 in the Year 5 area to sample a few of them. We would like the children to wear Greek costume if possible for the day but could the children also have their trainers with them to take part in our Greek Mini-Olympics. We would like to share a healthy Greek buffet within our own classes so if possible we would like each child to bring in a small amount of food to share with about 6 people. There is a list of ideas for healthy Greek food below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

As part of our celebration for World Book Day (and the next house competition) on 7th March, we are offering an exciting opportunity for your child to win a book token. To enter the competition your child will have to design a book token around the theme of Share-A-Book. To enter, please download the form below . Your child can design their very own book token in the space shown using pencils, felt-tip pens or paint. Please put name, class and house on the back of the entry. Every entry receives a house point/sticker. Each house will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their year group and receive house points with the 1st place going head to head with the other year groups. These entries will be judged by a panel of House leaders and teachers with the runner up and overall winner of each house receiving a book token. The closing date is Thursday March 7th. Good luck and happy doodling!
Please come and join us on Tuesday 5th March at 2.00 pm in the Year 5 area to see our exhibition about Abu Dhabi and the UAE and how it has changed!
The start of term 2 house competitions started with a bang, with Eco competitions, Wake up shake up, language quizzes and battles for a coveted place in the grand final of 'BSAK has talent' at the International fete, to be held this Saturday 23rd February. The battle between houses has been extremely close this term and has resulted in this month both Oryx and Falcon houses winning for their respective aged groups in Year 1-2 and Year 3-6. They will celebrate in a special dress up day on TUESDAY next week (26th Feb), where they are allowed to wear clothes representing the colours of their house. They will celebrate their win in a special house assembly on that day.
Have a look here for what is coming up in the second half of this second term!
