Year 5 are going to be celebrating all things Viking on Monday 17th October.
We would like to invite you to see what we are doing and how fantastic we look! 7.45-8.15 in the Y5 area and then into classrooms. We would like the children to dress as Vikings on the day and we will have a variety of Viking activities for them to take part in. They will have completed their Viking helmets as part of their DT project by then so there will be no need to provide a helmet. We look forward to seeing you - hopefully we won't be too scary!

Matthew Johnstone, best selling author /illustrator and passionate mental health and wellbeing advocate will be delivering a talk to parents and staff on Wednesday at 1.30-2.45 in the Junior Hall about the important subject of resilience.
Most of us set out quietly hoping for, and secretly expecting, to live a happy, successful and healthy life. But life doesn’t always play fair or go to plan. Resilience is about developing flexibility, acceptance and self-compassion when those plans go awry. Through stunning visuals he helps bring understanding of how resilience plays a key role in wellbeing. He offers an accessible roadmap to developing and maintaining resilience and how it can help you overcome and learn from difficult life events. There is definitely something in this for everyone. Matthew Johnstone has spoken all around the world including the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Google in New York, the Royal Society of Arts in London, he recently did a speaking and book tour of Iceland. Scholastics, a large educational publishing group, is giving children between 10 and 14 years of age the opportunity to be an international reporter for their online publications as well as some class based magazines. There may even be future opportunities to get your very own book published. The reporters are usually from the USA, but this year they are looking for reporters from all around the world who can report on things happening in their part of the world. This would mean that reporters need to be able to interview people and write newspaper articles about interesting events in the UAE. If you would like to apply then please read the information below, speak about this with your parent and then download and send off the application document attached. The deadline has been extended until November 30th to allow you time to get your applications in, but act fast as you will need to send your application by post.
