Teachers are often asked by parents how they can support with Maths at home. Calculation strategies have evolved over the years and for many, the methods your children use today may be different from what you know. Mrs. Bennett, our Primary Maths Subject Leader, would like to invite parents of children from Years 1-5 to attend an informal workshop which will aim to:
• Introduce you to our new calculation policy and explain the calculation strategies that we use at BSAK for + - x ÷ • give you advice on how to support your child at home. Workshops will be held in the Primary hall on Tuesday May 2nd from 7.45am to 8.45am and repeated again later in the day between 5pm and 6pm. The workshops are for parents only so please ensure that you have made child-care provisions for your children.

We have a few events coming up in Year 5 so we thought we would give you a little bit of prior notice.
Our Greek assembly, to which you are all invited, is going to be on Thursday 4th May from 8.15am in the Primary Hall. We are starting the rehearsals and the children should soon be bringing home words and song lyrics to learn. They will need a costume and mostly this will be the same as the one that they will need for Greek Day. If they need anything different we will make sure it is fairly simple and we let you know as soon as we can. Our Greek Day is going to be on Thursday 18th May. The children will need a Greek costume, most likely the one they wore for the Greek Assembly. Our Little World trip (letters are going to be coming out this week) will be on Thursday 25th May. As you are aware, the weather is warming up and due to the strength of the sun, we now would ask for all children to wear a school hat whilst outside in the playground. Although large areas of the playground have cover, there are areas that do not and as children like to run around at break times, school hats are required.
Please can you ensure that your child brings in a school hat, either the wide brimmed style or baseball cap style (as outlined in the school uniform guide - both available from Zaks) and a water bottle. Please clearly label your child's hat with his/her name and class. Many thanks for your help in keeping your children safe from the sun.
